15 June 2006 [00:56] - TODAY.AZ
11 Azerbaijani journalists, who were detained during the recent mass demonstrations in Iran, have not been released from prison yet.

APA reports quoting head of the Azerbaijan Defense Committee for Political Prisoners Said Naimi from Tehran. He said the following journalists Hasan Arkin, Ali Hamid Imani, Ahmad Rizai (Heydaroghlu), Manuchohr Azizi, Oruj Amiri, Abulfaz Vusali, Vahid Darghai, Heydar Shadi, Ibrahim Rashidi, Amin Muvehid and Abbas Purazahri are being detained in a prison in Tehran.

"It is impossible to get exact list of the imprisoned Azerbaijanis. As far as we know, three thousand demonstrators were detained in the latest demonstrations in South Azerbaijan. Most of them have been released but movement activists are still being held in different jails in Iran. Students and organizers of the movement dominate among them," Naimi said.
