Scotland lose final game to Azerbaijan

06 May 2006 [11:57] - TODAY.AZ
Scotland's disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign ended in a 3-2 defeat to Azerbaijan which consigned them to 10th place in the 12-nation tournament in Rome.

Having fallen out of contention for qualification early in their pool the Scots were playing purely for ranking points and went ahead through Sam Judge in the fourth minute.

However, Zarifa Zeynalova equalised before half-time and seven minutes after the break Inoyathan Jafarova put Azerbaijan ahead from a penalty corner.

Emma Rochlin converted a penalty stroke two minutes later after Vikki Bunce's flick was stopped by a defender's foot on the line but Nataliya Sidorova's deflection from a penalty corner 14 minutes from time provided the winner.
