NASA uses Azerbaijani music for cosmic inter-civilization contact

02 May 2006 [08:46] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani music is used for the cosmic inter-civilization contact. Our national music was used for the phonogram of "Voyagers 1" and "Voyagers 2" satellites sent to space on August 20 and September 5 in 1977 by NASA.

These satellites send photographs of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune to the Earth. NASA experts say that they implement it in order to let alien get profound information about the Earth. 90-minute-music selected from the best ones and 55-language salutes are presented in both satellites. There are two 2.20 minutes Azeri eastern melodies (Mughams) to perform by flute master. This melody was recorded by Moscow radio in the 50s. The melody recorded disc was brought to USA by composer Henry Coeval.

This Azeri melody was also included in "USSR folk music" anthology produced by "Smithsonian Folkways records", APA reports.
