Azerbaijan judges extend their thanks

Without any doubt, the information gained during our visit will definitely be used for further modernization of the judicial system in Azerbaijan.

The new constitution of Azerbaijan, in which one-third of the articles are devoted to human rights and main freedoms, was adopted in 1995. Since then, Azerbaijan has been successfully conducting judicial-legal reforms in order to remove all remnants (corruption, violation of human rights, etc.) of the Soviet regime and form an independent and impartial judicial branch.

At present, it is effectively fulfilling a national program to fight against corruption. A main component of this program is the reformation of judicial systems, securing the high status of judges by increasing their salaries and social protection, as well as conducting judge selection through the new multiple-system exam process.

All of these measures caused increasing public confidence in the effectiveness and impartiality of the reformed judicial branch.
