WHO says Bird flu situation is stable in Azerbaijan

The World Health Organization (WHO) may send a new mission to monitor avian flu in Azerbaijan.

As APA reports, the WHO expert Christina Salvi, being on a visit to Azerbaijan, told that the mission would stay for another week.

"We have not detected new cases. However, we are here to observe developments and see how they are controlled," Ms.Salvi said.

Saying that the situation on avian influenza is stable in Azerbaijan at present, Ms.Salvi said there's no need to arrival of a new WHO mission.

The representative also said that WHO epidemiologists were controlling the situation. The specialist recommended people not to contact wild birds.
