Emergencies Minister: "No need to declare state of emergency"

There is no need to declare the state of emergency in the country because of the bird flu virus.

Kemaleddin Heydarov, the Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency, stated that virus was not widely spread in the country.

However, in order to speed up the bird flu struggle the Ministry has intensified prophylactic measures in the country.

"Civil Defense Force and Management of the Marine Rescue staff, working under the Ministry of Emergency are engaged in the disinfection activities in Salyan, Neftchala and Absheron peninsula," the minister stated to ANS TV channel, Trend reports.

According to Heydarov, the Emergency Ministry, which previously existed as part of several other ministerial bodies, now is planning a project to deal with any sort of emergency situations appearing in the country. The Ministry's regional departments will be active in 8 districts of the country. "Some of the structures have special tasks on dealing with different risk situations," the minister emphasized.

He also stated, that investigations soon will be held to find out who and on what basis allowed building of houses on the dangerous territories with gas pipelines and electric lines in the vicinity.
