16 February 2006 [08:15] - TODAY.AZ
"The Interior Ministry has launched large-scale operations to expose criminal gangs in the country," said the Minister.

As APA reports, the Minister said that the recent crimes in the capital made us think of existence of criminal gangs in the country: "Members of the criminal gang composed of Georgian citizens have been detained recently. Agreements on exchange of information on operations and citizens have been achieved with Interior Bodies of several neighboring countries, including Georgia".

Mr.Usubov said that the crimes committed in Azerbaijan by foreign citizens should not be regarded as special danger: "Thus, Azerbaijani citizens also appeared to have committed crimes in foreign countries".

The Minister gave commentary on sending low and high ranking officers into retirement due to their ages in accordance with the legislation: "The age limit is confirmed as 55 in the legislation. Policemen work for the Interior Bodies until they are 60-year old in some cases. There is no need to make a sensation over the dismissal of the retired policemen. On the contrary, you should take into consideration that young specialists are employed instead".
