
In 2012,the Sumgayit power plant which is of key importance for the energy security of Sumgait and Absheron peninsula, generated nearly 2.03 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, according to a statement released by Azerenergy (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) on Tuesday.
According to the report, the plant produced about 277 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in January this year.
The Sumgait power plant consists of two gas turbines of 164 MW capacities each and one steam-gas unit with a 189 MW capacity.
Sanae govshagy and Yashma high power lines (PTL) with a length of nearly 6.5 km have each been laid for transmission of electricity to the energy grid.
