Ecology ministry monitors country's rivers

According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources currently water richness holds 90-140% of decade norm in Quba-Khachmaz region of Major Caucasus, 60-70% in Minor Caucasus rivers, 25-55% in Lenkaran Astara region rivers, while 60% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.


On October 1, 2cm decrease of water level was issued in Giragkesemen settlement of Kura river. Currently water consumption holds 92m3/sec in the settlement, i.e 57% of decade norm (in 2011, 136m3/sec, i.e 84% of decade norm).

On October 1, 5cm diminution of water level has been observed in Ayrichay settlement of Qanikh river. At present water consumption holds 61m3/sec, i.e 64% of decade norm. (in 2011, 77m3/sec, i.e 81% of decade norm).

Currently water level holds 342cm (on October 1, 2011, 437cm) in Surra settlement, 205cm (on October 1, 2011, 307cm ) in Shirvan, 170cm (on October 1, 2011, 320cm) in Salyan, 202cm (on October 1, 2011, 267cm) in Banka, while 170cm (on October 1, 2011, 180cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
