Residential building, under construction, catches fire - UPDATE - PHOTOS - VIDEO

A fire broke out in a new building of the Azerbaijani Medical University was mainly extinguished.

APA correspondent from the site reported that the necessary measures are being taken for putting out the fire.

Deputy Minister of the Emergency Situations Etibar Mirzayev has visited the area.

According to information, the workers were inside when the fire broke out, but fortunately they could leave the building.

No one was injured.

The Chief of Staff of the MES State Fire Protection Service Akbar Novruzov told journalists that the service received preliminary information about the accident at 09.30. Fire-fighters were immediately involved in the site. Novruzov said that the fire blazed the upper floors of 13-storeyed newly constructed building in the area of the Children’s Hospital #2 after A.Garayev by the Ministry of Health. More than 10 workers were evacuated from the site.

200 square meter area of the building burnt. No one was injured. The reason of the accident is being investigated.

Nasimi district Police Office told APA that the fire blazed up in the 2nd and 4th floors of the new building constructed for the Surgery Faculty in the yard of the Children’s Hospital #2 after A.Garayev. At present the fire-fighters are trying to extinguish the fire.
