Ecology Ministry reports about condition of transboundary rivers

According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, currently, water richness holds 65-115% of decade norm in the rivers of Guba-Khachmaz zone of Major Caucasus, 110-150% in the rivers of Minor Caucasus, 50-110 in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara zone, while 99% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.
Current condition in the transit rivers

Over the past three days, decrease of water level has been reported in Giragkasaman settlement of Kura river. Nonetheless, on August 13, water level increased 6 cm. Currently, water consumption holds 85 m3/sec, i.e. 63% of decade norm (in 2011, 97 m3/sec, i.e. 72 % of decade norm).

Beginning from August 10, 4 cm diminution of water level has been observed in Ayrichay settlement of Ganikh river. At present, water consumption holds 57 m3/sec, i.e. 85 % of decade norm (in 2011, 102 m3/sec, i.e. 152 % of decade norm).


On August 13, decrease of water level was observed in the downstream of Kura river. In this regard, water level fell 1 cm in Shirvan region of Kura river, 3 cm in Banka settlement, 4 cm in Novruslu settlement of Aras river, but rose 1 cm in Surra settlement. There has been no change of water level in Salyan.

At present, water level holds 334 cm (On August 13, 2011, 415 cm) in Surra settlement, 196 cm (On August 13, 2011, 292 cm) in Shirvan region, 158 cm (On August 13, 2011, 290 cm) in Salyan region, 214 cm (On August 13, 2011, 240 cm) in Banka settlement, while 95 cm (On August 13, 2011, 158 cm) in Novruslu settlement of Aras river.
