
New Masalli-Astara highway is under construction in Azerbaijan, Azerinsaatservis OJSC Spokesman Kanan Karimli reported. Now the excavation work is being carried out, as well as the work on the construction of bridges, water supply system and communication lines are underway.
"So far, there was executed about 10 percent of the excavation work, 21 percent of the work on laying of water system, 58 percent of the work on laying of the communication lines and the work on the construction of bridges completed by 11 percent. In general, 11 percent of the work under the project was done,” he noted.
The four-lane highway will stretch 22.15 km and width of each lane will be 3.75 m According to the project, there will be constructed eight bridges, two road junctions and 2 underground crossings on the road. The construction work involves 386 people and 150 vehicles.
”The project implemented by the order of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry’s Azeryolservis PU and is funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Azerbaijani government. The highway construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-2013,” Karimli noted.
