Azerbaijan continues demining operations

Some 3.018.169 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunition in December, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) reported. As a result of operations 353 unexploded ammunition and 8 antitank mines and 6 antipersonnel mine were found and neutralized.

Some 484 experts participated and 118 assistants, as well as the six mechanical demining machines and 36 mine-detection dogs participated in the operations. So far the agency cleared 181.472.035 million square meters of land, found and neutralized 665,015 mines and unexploded ammunition.

ANAMA operates in Agdam, Agjabadi, Agstafa, Goranboy, Tartar, Fuzuli, Ganja regions, Guzdek settelement in the Garadag district of Baku and the territory of mud volcanoes Kirdag in Absheron region.
