
According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources, as of Jan.9, the water richness holds 110-230% of decade norm in the rivers of Major Caucasus, 140-145% in the rivers of Minor Caucasus, 45-85% in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara zone, while 35-40% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.
Current condition in the transit rivers
Water consumption holds 116 m3/sec, i.e. 71% of decade norm (in 2011, 88%, being 143 m3/sec) in Giragkasaman settlement of Kura river, while 68 m3/sec, i.e. 96% of decade norm (in 2011, 72%, being 51 m3/sec) in Ayrichay settlement of Ganikh river.
Current condition in the downstream of Kura river
Diminution of water level has been observed in the downstream of Kura river, in the first decade of January. In this regard, water level has decreased 19 cm in Surra settlement of Kura river, 15 cm in Banka settlement, 13 cm in Shirvan and Salyan regions, while 20 cm Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
At present, water level holds 559 cm (on January 9, 2011, 472 cm) in Surra settlement, 457 cm (on January 9, 2011, 386 cm) in Shirvan region, 305 cm (on January 9, 2011, 301 cm) in Banka settlement, while 278 cm (on January 9, 2011, 260 cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
