Iranian vessel arrested in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry has confirmed the arrest of Iranian vessel Daryadel 1, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported. Earlier, Ukrainian media reported about the arrest of Iranian vessel with two Ukrainian and one Russian crewmembers near the Kazakh port of Aktau on Dec. 9. According to the media reports, the ship was arrested after its captain was found to be in possession of 1.5 kilograms of drugs.

Other crew members were not charged of possession of drugs. The owner of the vessel is Iranian company Daryadelan Javid Khazar Shipping Co. Embassy of Ukraine in Kazakhstan and Kazakh law enforcement agencies provide no comment on the situation
