Ramadan campaigns start in Turkey

The Directorate of Religious Affairs has announced its 2011 Ramadan campaigns, centering this year’s focus on “a new dose of neighborliness” and “a meal for Africa.”

Directorate head Mehmet Görmez revealed the campaigns at a press conference Thursday. The campaigns are an attempt to remedy the human relations that have frayed over the years, said Görmez.

Meanwhile, in cooperation with the Turkish Religious Foundation, citizens can make donations during the holy month to combat hunger in Africa. Turkish citizens can text “AFRİKA” to 5601 on their mobile phones and donate 5 Turkish Liras to the cause.
