"Blood money" payments increase to $120 million in Iran

The blood money reached 90$ million in regular months compared to $120 million paid in Haram months, IRNA reported quoting Iranian Judiciary Spokesman Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei as saying.

According to Islamic rules, four months (Moharram, Rajab, Zulgade and Juhjujja) of the Lunar year are considered to be Haram months.

Blood money is a pay which an offender (usually a murderer) or his family group pays to the family or kin group of the victim as some sort of compensation .
