Georgia plans to legalize marijuana?

02 March 2011 [17:15] - TODAY.AZ
There have been many rumors about the possible legalization of marijuana, a Georgian newspaper reported. The initiators of legalizing marijuana are senior state officials, the paper said.

Some experts think the initiative will positively affect youth, who already use the drug. In case of its legalization, it will be possible to control marijuana use.

Meanwhile, opening clubs will radically increase the number of drug dealers, some experts believe.

A newspaper source said the idea of legalizing marijuana belongs to a former economy minister, who is now the head of the Georgian Presidential Administration. He is also the manager of the Imedi TV company, Giorgi Arveladze. He has already opened such a bar on Republic Square.

However, the people working in the bar say it is a strip club. Arveladze visits the club often, but he is not the owner, they say.
