Turkish, Iranian chief diplomats call Ramadan ceasefire in Syria

13 July 2013 [09:50] - TODAY.AZ
Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu called for a ceasefire in Syria during the fasting month of Ramadan on Friday evening, IRNA reported.

Salehi arrived in Ankara on Friday afternoon to consult with his counterpart on recent developments in the region, especially Egypt events.

After a 3-hour discussion, the two foreign ministers attended a press conference and called for a ceasefire during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Referring to last years request by both foreign ministers for a ceasefire, Salehi expressed hope that this year call be accepted by both sides and bloodshed stop in Syria, not only in Ramadan but forever.

On a question concerning news about foreign agents passing Turkey territory to take part in Syrian war and dispatch weapons from Turkey to Syria, Davutoglu said that Turkey has never allowed any foreign forces to pass Turkey territory and wants all alien forces to depart from Syrian territory.
