Azerbaijani President offers condolences to Turkish Counterpart over earthquake

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of condolence to Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul over consequences of an earthquake which struck the country's Elazig province, the AzerTaj state news agency reported on Monday.

"The news of huge loss of life as a result of an earthquake which hit Elazig province has been a source of great sorrow to me," the President said in his message.

"I share your grief, and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, offer sincere condolences to you, families and relatives of the dead and all the people of Turkey, and wish the injured speedy recovery. May Allah rest the souls of the dead in peace!" the President said.
