Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov met Monday visiting OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakh Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev.

The talks mainly focused on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Asadov said the dispute poses a threat to regional security.
He expressed hope that Kazakhstan`s Presidency in OSCE would mark progress in settlement of the conflict.
The Speaker noted there was a legal basis for settlement of the conflict, so, he added, the United Nations Security Council had adopted four relevant resolutions.
“We consider that the conflict must be resolved on the basis of the principles of international law, particularly the principle of territorial integrity of states,” he said.
Asadov pointed out Azerbaijan was ready to grant Nagorno-Karabakh the highest status of autonomy adopted in the world, “but on the basis of the principle of inviolability of borders.”
Asadov also briefed Saudabayev on the ongoing democratic reforms in Azerbaijan and regional projects initiated by the country. He added if the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was settled Azerbaijan would achieve more accomplishments in all spheres.
The Speaker also noted his country attaches special importance to expanding cooperation with international organizations, including OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly.
For his part, Kanat Saudabayev said Kazakhstan`s OSCE Presidency would increase efforts towards peaceful resolution of the conflict.
He expressed confidence that his current visit would contribute to settling the dispute.
