Manuscripts not to be returned to imprisoned editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper

The Baku Appellate Court has considered the appeal of imprisoned editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid against the Bail investigation facility with a demand to return his manuscripts, reports Day.Az with reference to the Institute for Reporter Freedom and Safety.
According to Zahid's defender Fariz Namazov, he submitted several petitions during the process.

The defender demanded to call chief of Bayil investigation facility Misir Aliyev and prisoners, held in the same jail with editor-in-chiefGanimat Zahid to give testimonies. But these petitions were dismissed.

Then the court decided to upheld the decision of the Sabail district court. Journalist Zahid's claim was dismissed.

Notably, on October 6 the Sabail district court dismissed claim of Ganimat Zahid against the Bayil investigation facility with a demand to return manuscripts to editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid.

The claim fixes the need to return manuscripts to editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid, held in correctional facility No 17.

It should be reminded that by the information of the Institute for Report Freedom and Safety, chief of the Bail investigation facility Misir Aliyev took Zahid's manuscripts under pretense of reading and has not returned them.

At the meeting with head of the isolation ward Zahid's wife Ayanda Mursaliyev was told that the manuscripts will not be return to the journalist as they contain anti-governmental information. Therefore, they intend to work out an act and terminate them.
