Anne Derse: "I feature the Azadlyg radio as one of the integral partes of US-Azerbaijani relations"

She said the Azadlyg radio station has contributed much to the development of Azerbaijan through the past 15 years.

"The United States believe that one of the main criteria of democracy is informed public. "Media, fulfilling its work professionally and objectively, plays a great role in informing and enlightening of ordinary people.

Through the past 15 years Azadlyg made a great and irreplaceable contribution in this direction. I feature the Azadlyg radio as one of the integral parts of the US-Azerbaijani relations", said Derse.

The US ambassador to Azerbaijan noted that variants of broadcast of radio stations by way of satellite and internet are proposed.

I am sure that we will find ways to preserve broadcast of the Azadlyg radio. The elections in the United States proved that informed society is an integral part of democracy and objective and professional media, observing norms of ethics in this direction, plays a big role in it", concluded Derse,

Earlier chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Nushirevan Meherremli said broadcast of foreign radio stations will be stopped in Azerbaijan in January of 2009.
