"It is impossible to settle Karabakh issue by way of Azerbaijani investments into "Nagorno Karabakh" economy. The Soviet powers also failed to do it", said chairman of the Popular Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan at the Urbat club, commenting on the recent announcements of President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan about the related proposals to Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev and prospects of creating the Armenian-Turkish commission of historians to study 1915 events.
According to him, instead of making such announcements Sargsyan should have taken efforts to involve representatives of the so-called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic" into the negotiation process on the Karabakh issue, as it is the task of "top priority".
Speaking of the creation of the commission of scientists on studying the so-called "genocide of Armenians" in Osman Turkey, the oppositional politician noted that such a step would put the states, which recognized the 1915 events as the "genocide of Armenians" to an ambiguous state.
Demirchyan noted at the same time that Armenian opposition still supports normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.
