02 June 2008 [11:40] - TODAY.AZ
The draft amendments to the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan excludes paragraph according to which a candidate to president could pay monetary deposits instead of signatures, said chairman of the parliamentary commission on legal policy and state construction Ali Huseynov at the session of Milli Medjlis.

Moreover, the draft amendments reduces the term of the election campaign from 120 down to 75 days.

Furthermore, the number of voters' signatures, needed for registration of candidates for presidents, has been lowered by 5,000 signatures.

Now the required number of signatures makes 40,000.
