24 May 2008 [09:49] - TODAY.AZ
As the Azerbaijani parliament has not yet considered the draft law "On Freedom of Assembly", the Muasir Musavat party does not intend to hold mass actions, according to Muasir Musavat party chairman Hafiz Hajiyev.
He said in May the party was planning to hold a meeting on the overall political situation in the country, yet as the draft law "On freedom of assembly" was not introduced amendments the party decided to wait a little with the actions of protest.

"We are fully ready to conduct mass protests, yet we want the issue of holding meetings to comply with the law", said he.

Touching upon the issue whether the Muasir Musavat party has filed a claim against the Baku city administration, he was previously speaking about, Hajiyev said the following:

"We have received a letter from the Baku city administration, which fixed that the issue of holding meetings will be regulated by a new law, therefore we decided to put off our actions", Hajiyev concluded.
