Green Party of Azerbaijan offers to hold referendum in Nagorno Garabagh

Party chairman Mais Gulaliyev told Day.Az that the party currently considers issues raised by the representatives of world Green Parties. The national problem of Garabagh occupies a special place among them.

"The Green Party has a different point of view on this issue. We have worked out a program "25 steps towards the resolution of Garabagh dispute", which differs from the proposals of the powers or the opposition. According to paragraphs 11 and 12 of the program, we offer to distribute oil revenues among people. Step 25 states that it is necessary to hold a referendum in Garabagh, as this problem can not be settled by force.

The government had a chance to settle the conflict, yet it did not use it. First, it was possible to settle the dispute until 1991. The second time was on September 20 of 1994 while signing the Contract of the Century.

There were chances in 2003 when the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline was inaugurated. But we did not use them. Therefore, we have to reckon on our own powers". Gulaliyev announced.
