Baku supports Iran's peaceful nuclear program: Azeri FM

Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov here Tuesday voiced his country's support for Iran's pursuit of peaceful nuclear energy.

Talking to reporters, he said Baku has repeatedly announced its stance regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), has the indisputable right to access nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, he added.

Mammadyarov further voiced Baku's interest in expanding its wide-ranging ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which he called "a big and major regional country."

On ongoing talks to establish a legal regime for the Caspian Sea, he said Iran and Azerbaijan will continue their negotiations on the issue and added he believed future talks will yield promising results. IRNA
