Meeting of PACE monitiring committee due

The meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe monitoring committee to be held in early March will consider observation of parliamentary reelections in Azerbaijan scheduled for May 13, Chairman of the Milli Majlis standing commission on international relations and parliamentary ties, head of the Azerbaijan delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Samed Seyidov said.

As AzerTAg reports, Leo Platvoet is thought to spearhead the observation mission. 47-member PACE observation mission for the November 6, 2005 parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were led exactly by him.

According to S. Seyidov, transparent and democratic reelections are vital for Azerbaijan as elections had a direct impact on Azerbaijan's image worldwide. The Central Election Commission and Azerbaijan delegation to PACE will be formed following reelections.
