“It is not a right step to separate a corridor through Lachin region and it is unacceptable. Because, it might result in some nuances contradicting Azerbaijan’s interests.
The leader of Umid Party, parliament member Igbal Agazadeh told APA about it.
Stating that, there are reports on hopes for the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh problem in 2006 and it will be realized by the account of opening a corridor through Lachin region and stationing peacekeeping forces in the territory, I.Agazadeh considers that Azerbaijani side needs to be careful in this matter. Thus, the separation of a corridor through Lachin region will result in dividing the region into two parts and lead to loss of city status for Lachin region.
According to I.Agazadeh, such process might have negative results for Azerbaijan in the end. Therefore, the parliament member suggests establishing this corridor only through steppes of Kelbajar region: “This must be on condition that, an agreement should be reached on separating such a corridor for the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan”.
