He thinks that the options for the conflict's peaceful settlement are possible the next year. However, as he noted, there exists a number of problems in the conflict solution, which have to be resolved at the highest level. Azimov agrees with the standpoints of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen that 2006 may be decisive for the problem's solution.
He explained it by the fact, that there will be no elections in either of the countries the following year and there are changes in the geopolitical and geo-strategic situation in the region. These changes form new pre-conditions for the conflict resolution, the diplomat stressed.
He confirmed the information on the forthcoming 16-17 December visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to Azerbaijan. Touching upon the diplomats' forthcoming meeting program Azimov said, that they have scheduled meetings with the President and the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan.
Having positively assessed the passed sitting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers Council (FMC) in Ljubljana, Azimov noted, in the document adopted by the OSCE FMC there are "big shortcomings".
According to him the positive side of the document is that it underlines the necessity for the OSCE to play more active role in the settlement of the regional conflicts, as well as the necessity to revise the OSCE role in general in the geopolitical space.
