100th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s “Arshin Mal Alan” to be celebrated within UNESCO

The 100th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s “Arshin Mal Alan” musical comedy will be celebrated within UNESCO, Culture and Tourism Ministry’s department of international relations and cultural programs said.

As a part of the large-scale activity of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for popularization of nonmaterial cultural heritage and protection of cultural diversity, Hajibeuli’s musical comedy was included in the list of anniversaries to be celebrated within UNESCO in 2012-2013.

A concert, exhibition and other cultural events are scheduled to be held at the UNESCO headquarters on the occasion of the anniversary of this piece, which reflects the culture, music of Azerbaijan and cultural and human values.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is working for celebration of other significant historical events and the anniversaries of distinguished persons within UNESCO membership.
