The opening ceremony of the extraordinary exhibition “Art and Jewelry” was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on March 2.
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation attended the event and familiarized herself with the exhibition.
The exhibition featured works of famous designer Stephen Webster, based on drawings by Leyla Aliyeva.
Speaking at the ceremony, creator of the company, designer Stephen Webster thanked all those who put such efforts in creating the exhibition.
He briefed the event participants on the history of the featured works.
“Cooperation with Leyla Aliyeva is a great honor for me. The basis of this project was set up four years ago after our brief conversation with Leyla Aliyeva. Then, she asked my opinion about the creation of jewelry in the modern art style,” he said. “Once a journalist who interviewed me asked what I thought about creating jewelry and reflecting the motives of Azerbaijani art. I should say that the project is an implementation of that conversation.”
Webster continued to say: “Creators, working with great passion, create works, reflecting their inner world. I myself was very pleased to see Leyla Aliyeva’s pictures and tried to understand the image of her thinking. Thus, I became to create the jewelry, mixing the shades reflected in her works and my 40-year experience,” he said.
He noted that the attendees will get acquaintance with the result of the joint work and efforts.
During the ceremony the guests viewed the exhibition, organized in a joint project with the company “Italdizain Group.”
The exhibition will last till March 31.
Stephen began to create his works when he was just 16 years old. Now, he is a prominent designer, hailed by his generation.
The London-based luxury jewelry brand internationally heralded for its exquisite and cutting edge designs captivates by interpreting modern imagery while celebrating traditional craftsmanship.
“Stephen Webster” collection ideas usually arise from literary, cinematic or musical associations. So far, Stephen created jewelry, inspired by the works of the English poet and artist such as William Blake, the French writer Jules Verne and British writer Agatha Christie.
