Opera theaters of Azerbaijan and Italy boost co-op

Azerbaijani minister of culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev met Director of Rome Opera Theatre Catello De Martino to discuss current level and prospects for cooperation on culture and tourism between the two countries.

During the meeting, the minister stressed importance of bolstering ties and actively using huge potential in this field.

Garayev said a number of events with respect to promotion of Azerbaijani culture had been held in Rome on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

He said all those made great contribution to further expanding the bilateral relations.

Garayev went on to say that the Azerbaijan State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet would be overhauled and these would be carried out by Italian specialists.

He also highlighted effective projects implemented in the country for development of culture and tourism.

Catello De Martino, in turn, gave detailed information about Rome Opera Theatre.

The visitor described a role of culture in strengthening friendship ties as "great".

"The culture is a key factor to unite peoples in friendship," Catello De Martino said, noting that the Rome Opera Theatre attached special significance to cooperation.

Following the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Rome Opera Theatre and Azerbaijan State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
