Kazakhstan expects the decision of Azerbaijan on the price of grain, said the managing director on commercial affairs of Food Contract Corporation, Daulet Uvashev.

"We are ready even today to send nearly 10,000 high-quality grain of
North-Kazakhstan, Akmola and Kostanai areas, but we can not, because we wait for the decision of the Azerbaijani side, which should determine the price for Kazakh grain," said Uvashev.
According to him, the Corporation is prepared to send a new batch of grains in two routes: by train through Kazakh-Russian border "Samur", or through the port of Aktau.
The representative of Kazakhstan's National Grain Company explained that from April 1, 2009 Azerbaijan decided to impose 18 percent value added tax on grain imported in the Republic.
"Still it is unknown whether the decision will be introduced to imported Russian grain, said Uvashev. - The Azerbaijani side has taken time out to determine the price. Today, 15 April, the time-out period has expired, and we would like to know how the market of Azerbaijan will respond to this decision, and what the price will be for our grain, but still there is no answer," said Uvashev.
According to his information, annual imports of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan from 600 to 700 thousand tons of Kazakh grain.
He said that Kazakhstan exports nearly 600-700,000 tons of grain to
Azerbaijan.
