A new bridge to communicate Azerbaijan and Dagestan

An opening ceremony of a new bridge over the Samur river was held in Meherremkent region of Dagestan.
The said bridge will connect two states- Russia and Azerbaijan.

The earlier existing bridge has worn out and needs capital repair. The construction of a bridge over the Samur river at the Novo-Gaptsakh-Tarigkent-Yalama highway near Fil village was held by the bridge repair and construction department.

The bridge is held for creation of a reliable motor highway near the settlements of Meheremkent region on the right bank of the Samur river as well as the doubling access of the Caucasus federal highway in the territory of Azerbaijan via the Yalama and Filya access points.

The bridge is 500 meters in length and together with the accessways extending to 1300 meters. According to the constructors and frontier guards, about 1000 cars will pass through this bridge in a day.

Both passenger cars and trucks will pass by the bridge.
