The Italian Notizie Geopolitiche website has posted an analytical article highlighting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to the country, and hailing the role of Azerbaijan in the energy market of Europe. “Azerbaijan is not only an oil-rich country, it has an ancient history,” the article says.
The article analyzes a number of questions discussed during the visit of the Azerbaijani President, including the situation in the energy field and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project to deliver the Azerbaijani gas to Europe.
“If to take into account today’s reality in the energy market, Azerbaijan is the most important partner in the region. Azerbaijan is not only an oil-rich country, it has an ancient history. This land has undergone centuries-oil aggressions. The country’s most painful problem is the Nagorno Karabakh conflict which resulted in the occupation of its 20 percent territory, with one million of its citizens becoming refugees and internally displaced persons.”
The article especially stresses that during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Rome the two countries signed a document on Azerbaijan’s financial support for excavations in the territory of Alexandria, one of the important archeological complexes of the world in the Italian capital.
