Survey: Georgian people have highest confidence in Church

According to IRI study, respondents have highest confidence in Church with 90% favorable, 2% unfavorable and 8% have not opinion. Army has 84% and police – 81% of confidence.

61% of the respondents are favorable to media, 57% - to President’s office, 56% - to Government (Cabinet of Ministers), 53% - Central Bank, 53% - Georgian Parliament, Education System – 52%, Prosecutor’s Office – 49%, Courts – 46%, Ombudsman’s Office – 43%, Local Authorities – 40%, Political Parties 33%, CEC – 31%, Constitutional Commission – 27%.

The national representative survey was carried out from March 4th till March 13th, 2010. 1800 Georgian residents aged 18 years and over were interviewed face-to-face. 1,000 respondents reside in regions other than Tbilisi and 800 of the respondents reside in Tbilisi.

The survey was carried out on behalf of IRI and was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The fieldwork was carried out by the Institute of Polling and Marketing (IPM).
