ADP and Azerbaijan Way Political Movement accuse each other

17 July 2006 [21:35] - TODAY.AZ
Eight members of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) branches in Sabirabad and Absheron issued joint statement today.

As APA reports, the party members will carry on in the political movement after that.

The ADP secretary Taliyet Aliyev told that they immediately investigated the aforementioned statement and found out that it is fake. Thus, most of the signatories left the party membership in 2003. Accusing the Movement leader Ilgar Gasimov of swindling, Aliyev said Gasimov was also dismissed from the party once.

"Ilgar Gasimov was the chair of the party Supreme Assembly in 1995-98. He was sacked from the party for embezzling a party member's property through swindling. He lived in Russia for some time. He intends to strike a blow to the party benefiting from his old relationships now," Taliyet Aliyev said.

The Azerbaijan Way Political Movement (AWPM) chair Ilgar Gasimov told that he does not know a person called Taliyet and denied his allegations.

"I have never been the ADP member. However, I was driven to be the chair of the Supreme Assembly while I was not the member. This shows management in the party. They cannot proof my once being the party member or my leaving it. As coming to embezzlement of property, let them bring a legal action if this really happened," Gasimov said.

He noted the reason why he resigned from the party Supreme Assembly is leaving for study in Russia. The AWPM leader also said most of ADP members are coming to the movement.

"They decided to join us themselves. So, the ADP leadership must find itself guilty for that," he said.
