Head coach of the Azerbaijani gymnastics team, Mariana Vassileva, was pleased with her gymnasts' performance in the final of the Grand Prix Moscow-2011.

"We were able to estimate our potential and that of our rivals in Moscow. Our gymnasts were highly appreciated by professionals. Experts liked the following junior gymnasts – 12-year-old Leman Hajizadeh, 13-year-old Gulsum Shafizade and Laman Dadashli, who ranked sixth. But Leman and Gulsum ranked second a week ago in Budapest," the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation quoted the head coach as saying.

Azerbaijani gymnast Aliya Garayeva ranked third in the final Grand Prix Moscow - 2011 in the exercises with a hoop.

The gymnast was able to correctly perform her complex program and received 27.2 points, the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation reported. Anna Alyabyeva from Kazakhstan was able to leave Garayeva behind. Russian gymnast Evgeniya Kanaeva ranked first.

Garayeva ranked fifth in another final with a ribbon.

Both Azerbaijani group teams – senior and junior – won the competition. Azerbaijani young gymnasts Lala Yusifova, Aysha Mustafayeva, Mansura Bagieva, Aynur Jabbarli, Siyana Vasileva and Ekaterina Prokopenko managed to take second place twice in the exercises with five ropes. Russian gymnasts ranked first. German gymnasts ranked third.

The senior group consisting of Jeyla Guliyeva, Anastasia Prasolova, Jamila Huseynova, Aelita Khalafova, Sabina Abbasova and Stephanie Trayanova also ranked second in the exercises with five balls and the all-around competitions. Russian gymnasts ranked first. Japanese gymnasts ranked third.

"In total, gymnasts performing in groups received four silver medals. This is a good start for the upcoming European Championship," she said.

"We hope that Garayeva will perform even better and please us with awards in all-around and individual competitions next starts," she said.
