Azerbaijani weightlifters to battle for world medals

The national squad will include Elmar Aliyev, Sardar Hasanov and Turan Mirzayev weighing in at 69 kg, Afgan Bayramov at 77 kg, Nailkhan Nabiyev at 85 kg, Intigam Zairov at 94 kg, Kokaya Tornike and Alibey Samadzade at 105 kg.

In the women's event, Azerbaijan's hopes will be pinned on Silvia Angelova and Rumyana Petkova in the 48 kg and 75 weight categories respectively.

The championship will bring together 1,350 weightlifters from 187 countries.

The winners of the tournament will earn the right to compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
