Azerbaijani team wins CBC Sport Arena Polo World Cup

Azerbaijan’s Elite Horse & Polo Club won CBC Sport Arena Polo World Cup held in Baku.

The tournament, which was organized by Azerbaijan Polo Federation and World Polo, took place at Elite Horse & Polo Club on September 8-10.

The Azerbaijani team claimed the title after beating Swiss Evviva Polo Club 11.5-5 in the final on September 10.

Alongside Azerbaijan's Elite Horse & Polo Club (Baku, Azerbaijan) and Swiss Evviva Polo Club (St. Moritz, Switzerland), the World Cup featured American Grand Champions Polo Club (Palm Beach, USA) and Monaco`s Monte Carlo Polo Team (Monte Carlo, Monaco).

The teams played in front of an enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed an awesome polo weekend. 

Since the inauguration of the Arena Polo World Cup Azerbaijan in 2013, the Azerbaijani team won the first ever FIP Arena Polo European Championship in 2015.

The tournament, which was launched to be held under the motto “Polo is coming home” is now at a point of huge international interest and awareness. 

In December, Azerbaijan, where the traditional polo version Shovgan was played over the centuries, will apply for the FIP Polo European Championship 2018. Therefore two full-size grass polo fields will be built in Azerbaijan. Unforgettable polo days are coming ahead. And the vibrant city of Baku is getting ready to welcome the international guests and audience.
