Azerbaijan ready to hold World Powerlifting Championship”

There are all necessary conditions in Azerbaijan to hold World Powerlifting Championship,” said President of the World Powerlifting Congress Mike Sweeney at the press conference.

Mike Sweeney hailed the organization of the tournament.

President of the Azerbaijani Powerlifting Federation Aladdin Aliyev said the country was ready to host the World Powerlifting Championship.

He also noted that it was possible to hold such events in the regions of Azerbaijan, adding the modern sports complexes were built in the regions.

Aliyev said more than 300 sportsmen from 27 countries would participate in the tournament and noted over 50 Azerbaijani athletes would vie for the medals.

The tournament co-organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Olympic Committee, World Powerlifting Congress, Baku City Youth and Sports Department, Azerbaijani Powerlifting Federation will last till June 15.
