Bayern kept winning serie over Barca

25 July 2013 [10:02] - TODAY.AZ
Barcelona lost away to Bayern, in a game that ended up being nothing but a hindrance. With the Catalan side undergoing major changes to its backroom staff and lacking numerous key players, including Neymar, who is still away on holiday, this game was just something to get out of the way. Roura played his part, fielding first team players in the first half and Barça B's youngsters after the break. Pep's Bayern side won thanks to goals from Lahm and Mandzukic. Barça is still on holiday.

Messi was the star in a team which worked hard to avoid a repeat of last season's heavy Champions League semi-final defeat.

Despite everything, Barcelona lost with dignity, but it was no match for a Bayern Munich side which has played more pre-season games and has a great squad. Without playing to the best of its ability, Guardiola's side emerged as worthy winners on its debut in front of its fans.

Pep's team plays nothing like his legendary Barça side, but it has enough talent to play however it wants. Thiago faced his former teammates in what was an uneventful game due to the numerous absences in both teams. It will be a different story if they cross paths in the Champions League.

Roura fielded completely different teams in each half. The youngsters put in a better performance in the second half, probably because they were more motivated than the players who played the first 45 minutes.

With this game now out of the way, it is time for Barcelona to really kick-start its pre-season. All the hard work begins in earnest when 'Tata' takes over tomorrow.
