The Azerbaijan women`s volleyball club Azerrail Baku claimed on Wednesday its second win in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women as they edged their opponents of Tauron MKS Dabrowa Gornicza in the third round of play for Pool D (3:1; 22-25, 25-12, 25-20, and 25-17). Well anchored by their setter Frauke Dirickx the guests from Poland set the pace of the game in the first set playing well in defense and in attack while the home side struggled in reception. This way Tauron MKS Dabrowa Gornicza cruised to the final 25-22 and the provisional 1:0.
Azerrail got back on track in the second set (8:3) with Sara Anzanello and Megan Hodge standing out with their blocks while Manon Flier contributed especially from the serving line, so that BAKU comfortably drew level in the set count (25-12).
The third set was a close run where Azerrail – especially helped by Flier – moved to the front right before the final rush and could seal the provisional 2:1 (25-20).
Azerrail scored eight consecutive points to claim the deciding break in set 4 (14:5) and did not slow the pace down up to the final 25-17 and 3:1 whereby it confirms its second place in the group.
