Sportsman honored to carry Azerbaijan’s flag at 2012-Olympics named - UPDATE - PHOTOS

Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov named the athlete who can be honored to carry the Azerbaijani flag at the Olympics. It is expected that Olympic champion Elnur Mammadli will be the standard-bearer of the Azerbaijani Olympic team.
 
"The athletes usually say that the sportsman carrying the flag never wins medals. So, it was difficult to define the standard-bearer. Judo fighter Elnur Mammadli is confident in his victory and therefore, it’s expected that he will be the standard-bearer," Rahimov said.

Earlier, the minister said that he would like to see Farid Mansurov, the Olympic champion in 2004 and now head coach of the Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team, carrying the flag in London.

 The Azerbaijani Olympic team includes 53 Olympians, who qualified for London 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
