Azeri judo fighters to attend Grand Prix Championship in Germany

Azerbaijani athletes Ilgam Mushkiyev, Tarlan Karimov, Rustam Orujov, Elnur Mammadli, Elkhan Rajabli, Elkhan Mammadov, Elmar Gasimov, Kifayat Gasimova and Ramilya Yusubova will participate in Judo Dusseldorf Grand Prix 2012 slated for February 18-19, the country’s Judo Federation said on Tuesday.

Organized by German Judo Federation, the event will bring together 677 participants from 97 countries. After the tournament Azerbaijan team along with several other teams will attend a Düsseldorf EJU Training Camp.

For many years the Judo Grand Prix in Dusseldorf, Germany, has become a major event of the international calendar. 2012 will be a special sports season because it is an Olympic year and the Grand Prix will award valuable points for the Olympic qualification.
