“Naftalan is the unique resort in the west of Azerbaijan, where the world`s only field of curative oil lies.
The resort city Naftalan with approximately 8 thousands population is located in 320 km west of Baku and 50 km southeast of Azerbaijan`s second city, Ganja”, BBC correspondent Tom Esslemont writes in his report on Naftalan.
The name of the city is linked with naftalan – the liquid, similar to industrial oil. Absence of hazardous fumes, valuable lubricating oils, purity, and relatively big specific gravity differ naftalan oil from other types. Currently, Naftalan oil is used in all spheres of medicine.
Naftalan baths are used at a temperature 37-38 degrees. Duration of one bath is 8-10 minutes. A week-long treatment worth $200. Naftalan`s fame has spread far beyond Azerbaijan and people from many countries take treatment there, BBC reporter Tom Esslemont says.
