Elevator breaks down in many-storey building in Baku leaving seven people injured - UPDATE

The number of people injured as a result of breaking down of an elevator in a multi-storey building in Baku has been defined.
Ten people, including nine women and one child, were injured as a result of breaking down of an elevator in a multi-storey building in Baku, chif doctor of the Baku Emergency Medical Service Rauf Nagiyev said.

Five of them were taken to the Clinical Medicine Centre and the rest to the Institute of Traumatology, he said.

The accident occurred in the 16-story building in 185 Liberty Avenue in Rasulzade settlement of Baku's Binagadi district at about 15:00.

According to preliminary reports, health status of several victims is critical.

Nagiyev said no one died as a result of the accident.

The rope of an elevator broke down due to overload, the Bingadi District Police Department said the elevator was on the second floor at a time of the accident.

The medical service reported that Ulkar Valiyeva, Elnara Garayeva and Ulduz Isakova were admitted with light injures. There is not threat to their lives.
