Azerbaijani parliament adopts bill on general prosecutor

President Ilham Aliyev sent the bill to parliament for discussion.

Zakir Garalov has been holding his position since April 25, 2000, and his term will expire onApril 25. Garalov has been appointed to the position twice.

In 2009, parliament adopted an amendment to the law on the prosecutor's office. The bill includes an item removing the limitation on the number of terms the Azerbaijani prosecutor general and military prosecutor, and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic prosecutor and military prosecutor can serve office.
